Paper dolls update

Paper dolls update

So about a week or so ago I told you I was working on some more paper doll card submissions.
They've been finished for a while but I didn't post for fear of the recipient seeing it before getting the card itself.
This card was created for Clare from 'ALLO A life less ordinary' Blog.

She asked for a little nod to London within the cards design as Victoria the recipient is moving to London.

Poppy Commission

Poppy Commission

I've just completed a recent commission for a new arrival card.
It was for a grandmother who is gaining an adopted granddaughter.
My client said she had trouble finding a card for this occasion without stating the 'birth of your granddaughter'. The little baby is going to be called Poppy, and I couldn't resist incorporating this into the design.

Sketching out the wreath of poppies and other flowers.
Below is the finished coloured design.

Postal Surprise!

A little gift I bought for myself arrived in the mail the other day from Little Trinkets

Beautifully packaged in a 'sweet bag style' paper bag.
Branded stickers and business card holding the earrings.

Cute little floral earings.
They come in a wide range of colours and are only £1.50.

A cockerel necklace with a clock face.
This piece has quite a long chain, but it suits the style.
£8.00

A wooden scrabble tile necklace.
I think this is my favourite of all.
Only £6.00

Meerkat..

Meerkat..

So I ordered my pet insurance through compare the market, and thought I might as well get the free meerkat toy as well. Turns out it's not so simple.
The toy actually took around 3months to arrive and then I wasn't in so I was given a 'Sorry you were out' note to arrange re-delivery. However the postman wrote no details on the slip whatsoever and so I could not arrange a re-delivery. Anyway it finally arrived on Saturday, so it was a nice surprise from the postman.

This is what arrived.

First thought - Oh that's an ugly toy.
Second - It's not even the meerkat I chose!
I wanted Sergei.

Wow what a waste of time that was.
I'm with you Moby, the box is far more interesting!

From sketching to design..

From sketching to design..

I've shown these sketches before, and here's what I have been doing with them:

I laid them out along with my sketch of the statue of Liberty.
I liked the grey-blue colour scheme but couldn't resist adding the yellow taxi cab colour.

This final image is showing the first textural layers.
There's still a long way to go with this 'New York' piece but I am happy with the look so far.
