Gift ideas no.2.. making a jewellery/brush wrap.

Gift ideas no.2.. making a jewellery/brush wrap.

Making a jewellery/brush wrap.

This Christmas I made my sister a little gift, a wrap for a set of make up brushes I bought for her.
Above is where I started, three panels of thick paper to keep the wrap sturdy.
Then I cut out some flowers from felt and other fabrics and sewed them together by hand.
Then I placed them to see how I wanted it to look.
This is the first layer that I stitched down using machine embroidery. I liked the overall look but I thought it should be fuller.
I then stitched down the segments that hold the brushes.
And added a lot more flowers.
This is the finished wrap. I added a plain black outer so that it made more of an impact when opened.

 The finished wrap. : )

Gift ideas no 1... making a plush/soft toy.

For my boyfriend's birthday I created this little extra present.
A portal companion cube.

I managed to get the coloured felt from a local haberdashery.
Luckily I could find some almost perfect shades, and I used a cut out stencil to get every side of the cube the same size.

Finished image to follow.

Light Night

Light Night

Here are the best photos from what I took at Light Night Leeds.
It was a nice night, however somewhat disorganised. We found a lot of the events from the guide were not available, either there was no replacement event or it was changed to something completely different, this was quite a disappointment as we had previously marked up which events we wanted to visit and at the times they were available. But on the whole the night was a crafty delight.

Lately...

Lately...

...here's a few things I have been up to.
1. I went to Light Night Leeds.
More on this to follow, apologies as this happened in October and I have been slow to upload my photos.

2. Christmas Cocktail
Vodka Revolution were giving these little treats out free of charge with a print out voucher from their website.
And it was delicious!

3. Christmas happened in my office.
I walked in on the 1st of December to find our little office had changed into Santa's grotto, ha-ha.
It was such a lovely surprise.

4. Cakes
A new Tea shop opened up in Headingley Leeds, look how cute it is!
Anyone local should definitely check it out.

5. Tommy's Birthday.
Tom turned 23, I made him 2 portal cakes and they were yummy even if I do say so myself.

6. Christmas happened at home.
After Tom's birthday I decorated for Christmas. : )

7. Secret Santa.
Early Christmas present from my lovely Secret Santa at work.
Loving all the Fox prints that seem to be everywhere at the moment, means that I can keep buying into my namesake.

The making of...

The making of...

...a creative canvas.
Unfortunately I forgot to take photographs at the beginning of this project. :(
This started out as a potential gift and I loved it so much I kept it for myself. Oops.
(I am working on other gifts.)

Here are some close ups.

It now sits pride of place in my lovely home.
